About

This document explains how to setup your windows firewall.

Example: Allowing access to remote desktop via ip address ranges

The following assumes you have turned on Remote Desktop.

This example will apply to other apps in general.

Go to Control Panel, then Window Firewall.

On the left menu bar, select Advanced Settings.

Now, in the left menu bar, select Inbound Rules.

Scroll down until you see Remote Desktop (TCP-In). I had two entries, one was enabled, and the other wasn't. Just double-click on the enabled rule.

Under the scope tab, you can add ip address or ranges.

For example, if you want to allow all ip addresses that begin with 123.123, you would add something like,

123.123.0.0/16.
