802.1x wireless airport error connecting to network

If you get an error similar to,

try the following.

  1. If possible, connect the computer to AC power adapter and see if it performs better.
  2. Turn the Airport card off and then back on. You can usually do this from the AirPort menu, which will be represented by a pie slice - shaped signal icon in the menu bar.
  3. Zap the PRAM. To do this, shut the computer down and then start it up, holding down the keys Command, Option, P and R. Keep holding them down until the computer has has chimed three times, and then release.
  4. Within System Preferences, go to Network. Using the minus and plus buttons in the left column, delete the AirPort port and then recreate it. (The owner will have probably to authenticate.) Apply the change and try to reconnect.
  5. Again within the Network system preferences, click the AirPort port in the left column and then click the "Advanced..." button. Under the "AirPort" tab, remove "Your wireless SSID" from Preferred Networks. Under the "802.1X "tab, under "User Profiles", remove any profiles (may read WPA: your wireless SSID but not guaranteed). Click "OK" and then "Apply" and try again.
  6. Create a new Network Location. To do this, again within the Network system preference, in the menu next to "Location", select "Edit Locations...". In the small window that appears, click the "+" to create a new location and give it a descriptive name. Click "Done" and then "Apply", and try again.
